Personal project completed as part of a course in branding and visual identity taken at UAL. My concept is 'Substrate', a new electronic music podcast.
The objective was to create an aesthetic that visually connects the listener with the content of the podcast. The identity consists of a lockup, word mark, secondary branding, typography and colour palette designed to be used on several touch points including cover artwork and visualiser for streaming sites, out of home advertising and merchandise.

Secondary Branding
The secondary branding element is created using a form-based grid system as described in the book 'Analog Algorithm' by Christoph Grünberger. Starting with a polygon made of 3 - 4 points, the shape is placed in the
top-left square of a grid and a system is applied to iterate and incrementally adjust 2 or more of the points vertically and horizontally.
This is a flexible approach where a variety of patterns can be made, offering the possibility of a unique cover artwork for each podcast episode.
